Our Favorite Podcasts for Women’s Sports
From feminist focused sports podcasts to general sports podcasts that feature female athletes, these pods are our bread and butter – these are how we get by when we’re starving for some women’s sports content! The work of these podcasts is so important and fabulously done that if the only thing you get out of History of the Sports Bra is a new favorite podcast (that isn’t ours) we will have done our job!
Burn It All Down
“The feminist sports podcast you need.” The tagline has it right, you need this podcast. We cannot recommend this pod enough!!! The five main hosts, Shireen Ahmed, Amira Rose Davis, Brenda Elsey, Lindsay Gibbs, and Jessica Luther, bring an incisive feminist voice to all things sports. They dissect the goings on in the sports world with a critical eye and celebrate female athletic triumphs.
Hear Her Sports
Host Elizabeth Emery interviews incredible women in sports where they share stories of “breaking barriers, speaking up, and living with power and confidence.” We love this podcast because it features athletes from a variety of sports – not just the marquee name sports. We’re talking steeplechase, rowing, squash, rock climbing, fencing even motocross!
30 for 30 by ESPN
ESPN brings its well known 30 for 30 segment to podcasts! Six seasons in, 30 for 30 has created some wonderful episodes around different female athletes or phenomenons in women’s sports. Our favorite episodes: S4E3 Six Who Sat, S4E6 Backpass, S6E1 The Spy Who Signed Me, and S6E2 Out of the Woods. Mia Hamm is on Backpass… need we say more?
